1992 Morocco (Exodus).
I do not like camping or extreme heat so why choose Morocco in the summer for 3 weeks ?
Anyway an excellent starter ! Fly to Marrakesh and tour in on old Army lorry camping using low budget hotels etc. We had 2 drivers/guides who organised things but we had to buy & cook food etc.
Our first post of call was Essouria Route. All very interesting and fun. Although it was before the days of Digital Cameras Kodak were offering a "PhotoCD" service which I used. Kodak would process the film (prints or slides) and burn to a "Kodak PhotoCD" ..you needed their CD player as well. Subsequently able to convert to JPEG

1994 Pakistan. Probably my favourite tour.
Three weeks starting in Rawalpindi. We traveled first to the Indus valley then followed it upstream to Chilas and then to Gilgit, next to the Chinese border and the Khunjerab pass. We crossed into China and headed to Kashgar for the weekend market. 3 nights there and we retraced our route to Gilgit them westwards then south to Chitral and Peshawar. The main tour returned to Rawalpindi to fly home but I stayed on for a couple of nights and ventured to the Khyber pass complete with a soldier and his Lee Enfield rifle. I then got the train to Rawalpindi for my flight home !
A superb tour, great interest and fantastic scenery an excellent group of fellow travelers. Sadly not available now !

1996 Tibet. Overland to Lhasa.
Fly to Kathmandhu then a variety of transport into Tibet and Lhasa. Returning to Nepal by air and then UK. A very good and interesting trip with excellent company ! Images a bit limited until I scan a few more.
We had several interesting walks, as you see in one of the photos. we also had to cross a violent mountain torrent on a bridge recently re-made of "telegraph poles" !. The coach got stuck sometimes so "All out and push". Not easy at altitude! The journey itself was great and then Lhasa with its monasteries and the Potala Palace simply superb.

1998 - Jordan
An excellent 1 week tour. Amman, Wadirum, Petra, Dead Sea. Very good companions on tour and we had a post tour party a few months after. Tour was by 4WD vehicles and we camped in Bedouin style tents some of the time. Petra the highlight both walking the gorge and going to the famous sights. At the Dead Sea the young arabmen thought it was Xmas as they had to rub mud over several young bikini clad women. Nice work if you can get it ! My worst joke ever, whilst walking down the gorge on of the group said "It puts Cheddar to Shame !" My reply "Maybe ? but they can't make decent cheese !"

2000 UAE & Oman
A week mainly on an Arab Dhow. We started in Dubai and had 2 days to visit the museum and creek. Then to Sharjah, Fujirah where we boarded the boat. We sailed (dieseled) north into the territorial waters of Oman to Telegraph Island. This is where the telegraph from UK to India (Bombay) surfaced briefly. Allegedly the source of the "Going round the bend" saying. The island itself is tiny and hidden in the Fjords. We docked briefly in The northern exclave of Oman bordering the Straits or Hormuz. We visited a remote village where the females were in full local dress and it was advised that males did not photograph the women. Lovely blue warm water for swimming and dolphins following the boat.
