Italy 3 - Northwards near the Adriatic coast then the Dolomiti
Italy 3A Mon 17th July - Tue 24th
Firstly North up the "instep" before driving eastwards to "the ankle" or even "Achilles heel".
Gioai Tauro is pleasant and although it is work in progress (swimming pool) well worth stopping.
My replacement credit card (old on expired) was duly delivered here.
North to Lago Sirino again the wonderful little sosta. We met the English/Albanian couple again. Their farm purchase was progressing albeit slowly. It was a long but easy M-Way drive.
Next eastwards through pleasant scenery to Nova Siri Scalo. Very pleasant 65 mile drive. Big car-park with decent sized marked pitches 10€. Met nice old man in a Hymer.
on to Matera and a very good camp. Also Paolo and the town. Next to Alberobello and the "Trulli" lovely place albeit touristy. Not suitable for overnight so to..Castellana pleasant enough.

Italy 3C Sunday 5th Aug to Wed 15th
San Marino - Noticed we were very near here (Rimini) and read that overnighting was OK with services.
Yes a suitable parking area with shade and services so on Monday we took the cable car up to the City of SM on the Hill...An amazing place and you have to wonder how it got built before significant machinery was invented.
Very nice wander round. Cheap fuel as way on the way to...
Comacchio - Part of the Po delta and associated wetlands. Handy camping with shade, EHU, rudimentary showers and wi-fi.
Venice - Useful sosta with tram over the causeway to Venice itself. Venice very good with amazing narrow streets and the obvious highlights of San Marco..Nearly tempted to sing "Just one Cornetto" !!!
Falze di Piave - Northwards towards the Dolomites . This was a delightful camp in a small orchard with many facilities also nice shade and grass...maybe our best !
San Martino - a short but very twisty and somewhat steep drive to just outside the town. Nice big sosta with everything and spectacular views. 2 nights here as with all the above
Chiusa - Over the Passo Rollo a lovely mountain drive then to a glorified car-park owned by a hotel all very functional but not pretty and not cheap. To Austria next. The most common language in this area of Italy is German ! No captions for the Venice images
