Italy 1
I include the day (12th June) from Termignon to Susa here.
The weather was good and a wonderful drive up to the Col de Mont Cenis and then down to Susa. Images below (soon).
A very handy sosta in Susa much like Canterbury P&R very convenient and servicible !
Photos below: Termignon to Susa & Cuneo.
From Cuneo
We used the toll road to Mallare and on bypassing Savona Genoa to La Spezia. 2 nights here and a visit by train to Riomaggiore once of the Cinque Terre villages.
Next to Pisa and the inevitable but excellent visit to "the Torre" and surroundings both stunning and historical !
The culture continued with a visit to Vinci (Leonardo a true genius and polymath) then Florence and the usual suspects.
On to Greve in Chianti and then Torrenieri (x2)both pleasant overnights. Next a visit to Bomarzo and the Monsters certainly weird but not really wonderful. Slightly long day as "earmarked overnights" were not to our liking so on to Cerveteri and an OK carpark. Southwards going to the west of Rome to Latina and the really excellent Piana Delle Orme (http://pianadelleorme.com/pages/) So much more that just a war museum.
This was followed by aa long and fast (60mph is fast for us) drive to near Napoli. We needed the fridge repairing (Frigo non Functionale) and we found a Motorhome garage who did this on the spot for us. The gas burner had burnt out so a simple replacement was in order. They had the part (80euros) and the labour was also 80euros prices comparable with UK and the added bonus that we now have a working fridge ! The fridge is 12 years old so no complaints about it failing or the cost of repair. Then a nightmare rush-hour route through Napoli to our camp-site.

Our stay in Napoli was simply a rest day. On the Thursday (28th) we drove to Capaccio a simple beach car-park and OK.
Some comings and goings at night but not apparently for the usual (sex and drugs) not even any rock and roll.
On southwards to Lago Sirino (2 nights) an excellent (free) sosta with EHU available for only 2euros. Good views windy mountain road both to the sosta and again onwards to the Mway.
Next was Lamezia Terme with a small thermal bathing area. Ok in the day but awful overnight with young men shouting drinking and smashing bottles. No damage or direct aggravation but simply unnerving.
Thus on towards the toe of Italy and a safe overnight in a functional campsite at Gioia Tauro.
Tuesday 3rd July Ferry to Sicily so end of Italy 1
